How to get opportunity to show up
I know many people who are waiting for opportunity to drop the "next big thing" into their lap, that's too random for me, and I'm not very patient, so I follow the advice of Author Jim Rohn.
He wrote, "If you can develop your skills, your character, your health, your relationships etc....You'll attract opportunity."
I'd like to give opportunity a fighting chance to get to me, sort of help it along, get here faster. Like I said, I'm not very patient, so the quicker it gets here the better.
Today I'll be driving around town, visiting potential and established customers. I'm wearing a nice shirt, shoes, I smell good, and hopefully I look good. But all those frills won't guarantee that these customers will participate in my business. It will, however, get me in the door. This is my Health. My health attracts opportunity.
I'm Honest....Almost to a fault. I try hard, I work hard. I try to be as genuine with people as I possibly can. I have a positive attitude and I try to share that with those I come in contact with. I'm respectful and courteous. I always try (but don't always succeed) to do the right thing in any given situation. This is my Character it helps me build Relationships which in turn....attract opportunity!
The knowledge of my products and my ability to turn bids, quotes, orders and deliveries around quickly is tantamount in my industry. I go through great pains to be as efficient as possible in everything I do, from writing things down in my notebook, to dialing a phone with 4 fingers. These are my skills, and I can never have enough of them or do them well enough. My vigilance in perfecting my skills is hopefully obvious to the people I come in contact with...and will therefore ....wait for it....

Be careful what you wish for...
Or pray for...
So a friend of mine and I were having a discussion on unplanned results of prayer. This was started as a result of reading a entry from "Streams in the Desert" on May 13th. (I couldn't find a link)
Patience = more annoying people in your life
Humility = being asked to do lowly tasks like janitorial cleanup.
Financial Blessing = Double your work load.
Got any more?

Transitions
"To every thing there is a season and time...."
-some smart guy named Solomon
I had a professor who taught this to me as a philosophy on life. I clung to it like cream in a twinky.
"Don't stress out when you can't do *insert activity* year after year after year" (or week or day etc.)
Sometimes its just too much to enroll your kids in T-ball. Sometimes life doesn't allow you to get to Wed. night church every week. (or maybe even Sunday) Sometimes you get disinterested in a current hobby. Sometimes you blog....
Just because these things don't happen doesn't mean we're bad people, doesn't mean we're neglectful. Things change and we all go through times of transitions or uncomfortableness.
That's where I'm at right now. I'm uncomfortable. My current past times are becoming drool (sorry WoW) Work is feeling more and more like ....well....work. My music focus is drifting.
You get the idea.
I feel a transistion coming on. A season is passing. A new one awaits.

Praisebringing Artform
Hillsong wrote in Inside Out
"...the art of losing myself in bringing you praise..."
The more and more I bring praise to my Creator, the better I get at it - i.e. practice makes perfect. Like with anything that is practiced, eventually there's a familiarity, a comfortableness. Over time this level of skill in doing this repeated event becomes polished, and perfected.
It's Art.
Yet those who practice this art form are obvious. How quickly we can tell a professional musician/painter/sculpter from an ametuer. The same applies in our worship.
And here's the really cool part about this. Each piece of Art is unique. I can only bring my style of art, and you can only bring your style. Each of us differs, but both are beautiful.
Beautiful, unique art.
And this beautiful unique art is the loss of self.
